In a significant step toward sustainability and the development of rural communities in Colombia, Solartia has signed a contract for the construction of a hybrid microgrid in the department of La Guajira. The project combines a 1.2 MWp solar photovoltaic plant and a 6.30 MWh lithium-ion (LiFePO₄) battery energy storage system, marking a milestone in the region’s energy transition and in promoting electrification in rural areas with limited access to conventional power grids.
Impact and Features of the Project
The solar photovoltaic system and batteries will ensure a clean and stable power supply 24 hours a day, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving the quality of life for around 1,000 residents. This technological solution is designed to operate efficiently in remote areas, fostering an environment conducive to local social and economic development.
A Commitment to Sustainable Development
For Solartia, this project reaffirms its commitment to energy transformation and human development in vulnerable communities. The collaboration with the governments of Colombia and South Korea underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing climate change challenges and promoting a more sustainable and inclusive future.
Next Steps
The construction of the microgrid is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with the project expected to be completed by 2025.
Together towards a more sustainable future.
