Honduras
Perla Project – Brus Laguna
Electrifying rural areas to improve livelihoods

Located in the Bay Islands, Honduras, the Green Energy Island project offers a sustainable energy solution with a 2.32 MWp solar capacity and 6.34 MWh of battery storage. Completed within 12 months, this initiative required constant coordination with stakeholders and logistics tailored to overcome the access challenges and weather conditions characteristic of this insular region.
This project not only provides clean energy but also strengthens the island’s energy autonomy through efficient storage, reducing reliance on non-renewable sources. The infrastructure is designed to meet local demands and ensure stability for the island’s electrical system.

With the initial photovoltaic project, Guanaja took a major step towards sustainable energy, significantly reducing the use of diesel generators and transitioning to a cleaner, more reliable power source.
However, as energy demand grew, there was a pressing need for an expansion to further strengthen the island’s resilience and system stability, improving the quality of life for residents and enhancing the island’s energy autonomy.
Situated in the Caribbean Sea off the northern coast of Honduras, Guanaja is one of the Bay Islands, alongside Roatán and Utila. Known for its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and marine biodiversity, the island is home to lush green mountains and is a popular destination for ecotourism and diving on the world’s second-largest coral reef.
