Rural Electrification for universal access to electricity
WHY?
Did you know that nearly one billion people around the world do not have access to electricity? That's about 15% of the world's population. This means that for 2 out of 10 people in the world, actions as simple as turning on the light, opening the refrigerator, charging the cell phone, using a computer, become impossible actions. Almost 87% of the world's inhabitants without electricity live in rural areas. Lack of access to electricity is fundamentally a rural problem.
This has more serious repercussions than we realize. It is no longer just the simple fact of the inconvenience of not having electricity, but this slows down the socio-economic development of marginalized regions, hit by poverty. Economic growth, health, nutrition, education and communications are hampered by the lack of stable, clean and reliable electricity. In a rapidly changing global socio-economic scenario, this further relegates these areas.
One of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is to reach 100% access to the resource by 2030. Access to electricity is a human right, not a commodity.
The ARCA Project, as our containerized solutions, were born with the objective of bringing electricity to those who need it most, empowering these people with energy independence to improve their quality of life and that of the planet alike.
SOLUTIONS
At Solartia we have taken on the task of rethinking rural electrification systems from a social, technical, and economic point of view. Therefore, we have created different solutions for all types of energy needs, developing innovative approaches to obtain knowledge from BIG DATA and power electronics, and taking advantage of the commercial and technological maturity of energy generation and storage solutions. All our solutions are available in different standardized peak power capacities, however, we have experience designing custom-made solutions for unique energy needs.
SOLAR GENERATORS

ARCA is a free-standing, plug-and-play solar PV generator with an integrated energy storage system, capable of providing uninterrupted power anywhere in the world. Given its robustness, safety and simplicity of use, it can be installed with relative ease, reducing the need of a highly specialized work force. Its encapsulated electronics guarantees maximum durability and protection against humidity and adverse weather conditions.
The installation of ARCA is that simple:
CONTAINERIZED SOLUTIONS

Containers equipped to provide power at any location. These self-sustaining energy solutions can be automatically connected and operate independently or in conjunction with an electrical network, through an intelligent control system that enables them to operate in grid-connected or island mode.
Island mode can be applied in the event of natural disasters, for example, or when a micro-grid is connected to a weak network where recurrent interruptions are complemented by backup power. For critical loads such as those in healthcare, this feature is key as it ensures continuous operation.
The energy that our containerized solutions generate and store can come from renewable or conventional sources. The power of these solutions is customizable up to 30 kWp (solar peak) with a storage capacity adjustable to any energy need.
These solutions can be implemented quickly and easily, even in remote areas far from the nearest grid connection point. Whether in rural communities, islands, or remote medical or industrial operations, they provide access to quality energy usually at a lower cost than electricity from the national grid, or from a diesel generator, and with less environmental impact.
HOW?
The energetic empowerment that our solutions provide facilitate the creation of circular economies. This is a win-win initiative for all parties: authorities meet their commitment to improve livelihood stimulating economic growth, the environment benefits from a clean source of energy, all while creating new business opportunities that increase purchasing power, which allows the energy trade to keep moving forward entire communities – circular economy.
- Comprehensive customer service to installers and end-users
- Quick and simple logistics
- Flexible and dynamic business model
- 7-year Warranty
- Selection of the best components to allow for durability under harsh environmental conditions
WHO?

ARCA gives a lot of options to shorten the energy access gap: you can donate them as part of a program or an NGO, in a CSR campaign, you can co-finance (users/communities, NGOs, multi-laterals, governments), and you can enable pay-as-you-go functions to be financed by the end-user. Some of its possible uses are:
- Homes, hospitals, schools and town halls in isolated communities.
- Agriculture; water pumping, weather stations, small and medium producers' production processes.
- New power or replacement of diesel generators in remote locations, e.g. fishing centers, telecommunication antennas, guard posts, farms, houses.
- New applications in isolated communities: study and training centres, mobile stations or permanent vaccine centres, census, small water purification plants, natural/environmental risk prevention centres (alarms), etc.
