Our Company

More than 15 years developing innovative renewable energy projects to improve sustainable development and people's way of life

Accessibility to energy is essential to boost social, economic and environmental development

That is why we could not sit idly knowing that there are a wide number of rural communities where energy is only available for approximately six hours a day, or where there is no energy at all! On top of that, this is not clean energy as it usually comes from fossil fuels. So our Engineering and R&D departments got down to work until we came up with solutions to improve the livelihood of people with little to none access to electricity.

Grid-connected solutions such as solar or wind farms, onshore or offshore, only benefit those who enjoy access to electricity. To achieve sustainable development in isolated regions, facilities or communities, where almost 1 billion people have no access to energy, off-grid solutions are essential.

That is why we have been pioneering in off-grid solutions for residential and regional applications. To help promote energy accessibility, we have developed a plug-n-play, portable solar PV kit with energy storage – a residential or personal micro-grid so to speak – as well as one of the first hybrid micro-grids with a sizeable energy storage system (ESS) in Corn Island, Nicaragua, where +8000 people now rely almost entirely on solar power.

Our actions are driven to improve livelihoods and counter the climate emergency

From our beginnings we have bet on solar power as a solution to everyday problems and as a main source of electricity. This journey has allowed us to develop innovative hybrid micro-grids to deliver electricity where conventional sources and main-grids cannot reach. Thanks to the inclusion of renewable energies as sources of obtaining electricity, emissions from diesel are reduced.

Motivated by our constant drive of making the world a better place to live in, we created a Biofuels division 12 years ago. Our main activity was focused on the manufacture of biodiesel from waste derived from vegetable oils and animal fats. Focusing on moving towards more circular economies marked by sustainability, we later went on to put aside the manufacture of biodiesel and started to focus only on the management and recovery of waste from used oils, animal fats, fatty acids, and glycerin. Our processing technology allows us to treat these raw materials in order to allow other companies to reuse them for the manufacture of biofuels. That is why our division formerly known as Biofuels has now been renamed to Oleochemicals.

We are an energy company specialized in developing renewable energy solutions around the world and oleochemical products,
pioneering in hybrid micro-grids and off-grid residential solutions

We have helped countries in Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean to develop turnkey projects of solar PV energy to obtain electricity through clean, sustainable, and economic technologies.

Our Oleochemicals division has allowed us to import waste-derived raw materials, from all over the world, to transform them into products with an energetic value in our Los Arcos oil-chemical plant. The final products can be reused for the manufacture of biofuels.

Innovation has been at the forefront of Solartia. We are shareholders of Indeol, a wind power company that focuses its objectives on closing the gap between the viability of a new technology and its industrial application. All of the technology developed by us, i.e. nanotech, wind turbine blades, and portable solar generators, is patented technology.

Since 1999, for us it has been a driving goal to improve the livelihood of people sharing with us the world in which we live. Thus, we are always searching for new ways to develop innovative and sustainable technologies that foster social and economic development. Proof of this are our off-grid solutions: portable solar generators and hybrid micro-grids, which provide access to electricity in areas lacking good-quality energy distribution infrastructure, reducing the dependence of fossil fuels and increasing sustainability.
